MPP Arnott to Premier: “Time to get back to work”

Newly re-elected Wellington-Halton Hills MPP Ted Arnott is calling on Premier Dalton McGuinty to recall the Ontario Legislature as soon as possible.

"The McGuinty Liberals shut down the House earlier than scheduled last June, to prevent debate on their Minister of Citizenship's slush fund," Mr. Arnott stated. "That was the scandal which saw the Cricket Club receiving a million dollars from the Government without even asking for it. It's now been 19 weeks since the Legislature has been in session."

During a TV interview on Global TV's “Focus Ontario ” programme on October 13th, Premier McGuinty stated he has not yet decided whether to have a sitting of the Legislature before Christmas.

"The people of Wellington-Halton Hills expect us to be back to work on their behalf now that the election is concluded. There are numerous important public issues which need to be raised. I urge the Premier to recall the House a.s.a.p.," Mr. Arnott concluded.
