The following is the text of remarks delivered by Waterloo-Wellington MPP Ted Arnott at an Event for Burlington MPP Joyce Savoline. Mr. Arnott is nominated as a candidate in the next Provincial Election for the Riding of Wellington-Halton Hills. The event was held on May 24th, 2007.
Thank you very much and good evening.
It's great to be here, and see so many of you here, to show your support for your fine MPP, Joyce Savoline. When Joyce first sent me the invitation to tonight's event, I was quick to reply yes – first of all because I think she's a terrific Member of Provincial Parliament, and an even better person, which is why she deserves the support of all of us. But secondly because, I've been nominated to run in the next election in the new Riding of Wellington-Halton Hills, and if successful, I hope to join Ted Chudleigh, Joyce, and Rick Byers as Members of the Halton PC Caucus, as we work together to advance the interests and values of the people of this great Region.
And let me add one more thing about October the 10th – we intend to win the Provincial Election that day – restoring integrity and accountability to the Government of Ontario – and put into effect our plans to fix the problems in health care, strengthen our schools, free up gridlock, demonstrate our commitment to protecting our natural environment, making our communities safer, and making the Government work for you not the other way around.
But none of this is possible without your support, and that is why we are so grateful.
And so grateful that you've sent Joyce to Queen's Park.
Her experience, her impeccable reputation for honesty, her thoughtfulness, her judgement, and her tireless determination to improve the quality of life for all of her constituents, are the qualities you've seen in Joyce for years, And they are the very qualities which John Tory will need around his Cabinet table in about 5 months time.
We know Joyce will continue to do great things, and make you proud of her, and validate the time and effort you will put in to supporting her in the months ahead.
Now is the time to begin planning for success in the Fall – success for you in Burlington, success for the P.C. Party, and success for Ontario as we embrace the Promise of the Future.
