MPP
Ted Arnott Appointed Conservative
Critic for Tourism and Recreation
Waterloo-Wellington MPP Ted Arnott took on the
responsibility of being Conservative spokesman
for Tourism and Recreation on September 28, 2004,
the day newly elected PC Leader John Tory announced
his team of Caucus Critics.
“I
am delighted to have been chosen to serve in this
capacity. I asked to be assigned this particular
responsibility within our Caucus,” Mr. Arnott
said. “Tourism and Recreation are vitally important
in Waterloo-Wellington, and in rural and urban
communities throughout Ontario.”
“I
have some knowledge of Ontario’s world-class reputation
and potential to draw more tourists because I
know what we have to offer in Waterloo-Wellington.
We have wonderful natural attractions, small towns
that represent Ontario’s spirit and history, and
strong vibrant urban centres. That mix gives us,
and other areas throughout the province, an advantage
and the ability to aim for yearly increases in
the number of people who visit, the duration of
their stays, and in the amounts they spend,” he
continued.
Mr.
Arnott is also one of the presiding officers or
Assistant Speakers in the Legislature, holding
the position of First Deputy Chair of the Committee
of the Whole House.
“I
look forward to the challenges of this new role,
of holding the Liberal Government accountable.
This is an exciting opportunity,” Mr. Arnott concluded.
