MPP
Arnott, municipal officials and MTO
staff tour Highway 6 to highlight needed road
work
Municipal officials and staff from the Ministry
of Transportation (MTO) joined Waterloo-Wellington
MPP Ted Arnott for a road tour of Highway 6 on
October 22nd, for the purpose of convincing the
Government to proceed with badly needed repairs
on the road from Fergus to Mount Forest.
“I
thank our municipal representatives for being
involved and taking a stand for road repair in
Waterloo-Wellington. We need to continue to work
together in support of the Waterloo-Wellington
Transportation Action Plan,” said Mr. Arnott.
“I
also want to thank the MTO’s Southwestern Region
staff: Kevin Bentley, Jennifer Graham Harkness,
and Paul Santos for their ongoing support as we
work to have our projects prioritized,” he added.
Local
officials along for the tour and meeting afterwards
included Wellington County Engineer Gord Ough,
County Councillor Carl Hall, Mayor Russ Spicer
of the Township of Centre Wellington and Mayor
Mike Broomhead of the Township of Wellington North.
The
Waterloo-Wellington Transportation Action Plan
was developed by Mr. Arnott in partnership with
the riding’s eleven municipalities who provided
him with their top transportation priorities for
the next five years and beyond. Highway 6 has
been at the forefront of his statements and questions
in the Ontario Legislature.
“I
intend to continue to raise the need for these
projects at Queen’s Park,” said Mr. Arnott.
