MPP
Arnott seeks constituents’ input on electricity
issues
Waterloo-Wellington
MPP Ted Arnott is bringing his constituents’ concerns
forward as a member of the Legislative committee
that is conducting public hearings on Bill 100,
the Electricity Restructuring Act. Bill 100 proposes
a number of changes concerning the future of Ontario’s
electricity system. Hearings began on August 9th
and are scheduled to continue at Queen’s Park
and in locations across the province in the summer
and into the fall.
“Electricity
is a major concern for constituents in Waterloo-Wellington.
I believe that we should do everything in our
power to ensure that when we flick the switch
-- the lights come on. We expect that electricity
needs are met at home, at work and on the farm,
and the Government must ensure that our hydro
bills are affordable,” Mr. Arnott said. “In addition,
electricity generation and transmission must be
safe and sustainable with respect to our environment.”
“As
we conduct these hearings, I am asking my constituents
to provide me with their ideas and concerns on
meeting our electricity needs for the future.
I want their views on how the province should
generate new power as well as steps they think
we need to take to conserve electricity,” he added.
Mr.
Arnott is a Conservative member of the Standing
Committee on Social Policy that is conducting
meetings on Bill 100, The Electricity Restructuring
Act, 2004. Along with meetings in Toronto the
Committee is scheduled to conduct hearings in
locations including Windsor, Ottawa and Clarington.
Mr.
Arnott is asking constituents to send their views
to him at his Queen’s Park Office: Room 420 Legislative
Building Queen’s Park, Toronto, Ontario M7A 1A8,
