ARNOTT ANNOUNCES MORE QUEEN’S GOLDEN JUBILEE MEDAL RECIPIENTS
IN WATERLOO-WELLINGTON
Waterloo-Wellington
MPP Ted Arnott is pleased to announce the names of more
of the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal recipients in the
Riding of Waterloo-Wellington.
This
Commemorative Medal was created on the occasion of the
Golden Jubilee of Her Majesty’s accession to the Throne
as Queen of Canada and pays tribute to those who have
made a significant contribution towards their fellow
citizens, their community or to Canada.
“I
am delighted these exceptional individuals are being
recognized by the Queen for their outstanding volunteer
service towards the betterment of their communities,”
said Mr. Arnott.
The
Province of Ontario was allocated a number of Golden
Jubilee Medals. The Ontario Honours and Awards Branch
within the Ministry of Citizenship was responsible for
administering the Government of Ontario’s program. “I
wanted this process to be as inclusive as possible,
so I asked our local municipal councils in the Riding
of Waterloo-Wellington to nominate a worthy individual,”
stated Mr. Arnott. “Although the response time was limited
because of the Ministry’s timeframe, I want to thank
each of our councils who were able to submit a nomination,”
he said.
The
Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal recipients of Waterloo-Wellington
are:
Mary
Carlin - Township of Wellington North
Marlene Chambers - Town of Minto (posthumously awarded)
Tim Fitzpatrick - City of Kitchener
John Green - Township of Mapleton
Kay Hall - Township of Wilmot
Peter Hannam - Township of Guelph-Eramosa
Rev. Canon Robert Hulse - Elora
Connie Lovell - Township of Centre Wellington
Grace Oesch - Township of Wellesley
Milo Shantz - Township of Woolwich
Mr. Arnott is planning on presenting the Queen’s Golden
Jubilee Medals to the recipients or family members in
the very near future.
