Waterloo-Wellington MPP Ted Arnott Announces Provincial Funding Support for Water and Sewer Project in Moorefield

Waterloo-Wellington MPP Ted Arnott has announced that the Ontario Government through the SuperBuild Corporation is providing the Township of Mapleton with up to $440,000 for their water and sewer project for the community of Moorefield.

“Mayor Carl Hall, Council and staff are to be congratulated for their success in this application process. I am pleased that these priorities are being addressed for the residents of Moorefield,” said Mr. Arnott.

“The Township of Mapleton is doing their part in the partnership that gears projects towards the clean water objectives set out by the Ministry of the Environment. Township Council and staff have demonstrated their leadership in this regard at meetings I have arranged at Queen’s Park. It is because of their strong commitment that I strongly supported their applications and raised the need to get the funding out as soon as possible within Caucus, with the President and CEO of SuperBuild, David Lindsay and in the Legislative Assembly,” he concluded.

As stated in a letter from Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Minister Brian Coburn, the Government of Ontario has approved the funding of one-third of the eligible costs, up to $40,000, towards the preliminary engineering study and one-third funding of the eligible costs, up to $400,000, for the detailed engineering design work. The funding is being made available under the Ontario Small Town and Rural Development Infrastructure initiative.
