Government Invests in the Healthy Development of Children
and Families in Waterloo-Wellington says MPP Ted Arnott
Waterloo-Wellington
MPP Ted Arnott has announced that the Government of
Ontario will provide up to $150,000 to the Centre Wellington
Resource Group and its partners in Wellington County
for programs that will support children and parents.
“I
congratulate the Centre Wellington Resource Group and
all of their partners in the area for their success
in acquiring this level of support from the Province.
They have worked hard to draw together the resources
of volunteers and community based groups and this new
funding reflects their strong commitment to the healthy
development of children and families,” said Mr. Arnott.
The
project called Learning to Play: Learning to Learn is
aimed at providing early years programs and services
to rural communities across the County of Wellington.
For example, Growing Together, a program for parents
and children will provide services like nutrition advice,
family literacy and numeracy education.
The
$150,000 is being allocated under the Government’s Ontario
Early Years Challenge Fund. The fund provides assistance
to projects that have also received support such as
in-kind contributions generated from businesses, charities,
and other sectors in the community. A key objective
is to support creative proposals for programs aimed
at helping children develop successfully during their
first six years of life.
