MPP Arnott Appointed Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of the Environment
March 06, 2001
Waterloo-Wellington, MPP Ted Arnott was appointed Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of the Environment on March 5, 2001 moving from his former posting as Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Economic Development and Trade.
“I am looking forward to this new challenge and to working with the Honourable Elizabeth Witmer,” said Mr. Arnott.
“I also want to take this opportunity to thank Al Palladini the former Minister of Economic Development and Trade,” Mr. Arnott added. “I've enjoyed working with him.”
When he was appointed to the Ministry of Economic Development, Trade and Tourism in April 1997 Mr. Arnott had responsibility for Small Business. The Ministry reorganized after the June 1999 election and his responsibilities were expanded to assisting businesses large and small.
“It has been a pleasure supporting small businesses and being their advocate at Queen's Park. One of our accomplishments was to establish Ontario's Salute to Small Business in which the Government and communities throughout Ontario dedicate the month of October to promoting small business growth,” recalled Mr. Arnott.
“I was pleased to support the Ministry's Strategic Skills Initiative which invests in training programs in areas where there are shortages of skilled people. This included a $2.6 million investment at Conestoga College which we announced in April 2000 for their new information technology training centre,” he concluded.
Mr. Arnott's provincial riding of Waterloo-Wellington includes all of Wellesley, Wilmot and Woolwich Townships, a southwestern part of the City of Kitchener, and much of Wellington County.
